Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a gentle, time-tested, and well-researched therapy that involves placing ultra-fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body to remove tensions and blockages, so the body may access and heal that injury or imbalance.
Modern science shows that acupuncture works much like the electrical system in a home. Your nervous system is the body’s internal wiring. The brain functions as the power source—the main generator or circuit breaker—and the acupuncture points are like light switches placed throughout the house. When a switch isn’t working properly, it’s not always the lightbulb that’s the problem—it could be the wiring or a blocked connection.
Acupuncture uses stainless steel needles, which act like tiny electrical conductors. When placed at specific points, they help re-establish communication between the brain and different parts of the body that may not be functioning optimally. This “reconnection” allows the body to regulate itself more effectively—reducing pain, calming inflammation, supporting organ function, and restoring balance.
This therapy jump-starts the body’s natural healing process without relying on drugs or causing side effects. Acupuncture essentially helps the body remember how to heal, by turning the right switches back on.
What to expect on your Initial Acupuncture Visit…
From the moment you arrive, our goal is to create a calm, supportive environment where you feel heard, cared for, and empowered in your healing.
Your first appointment begins with a thorough conversation about your health history, current symptoms, and wellness goals. We’ll explore how different aspects of your life—physical, emotional, and environmental—may be influencing your body’s balance.
By taking your pulse and inspecting your tongue, Andrea will be able to assess where you are out of balance.
Once you’re comfortable, Andrea will insert ultra-fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body. Most people find this process surprisingly gentle—many feel relaxed or even sleepy during the session. The needles typically stay in place for 20–30 minutes while you rest quietly.
Every treatment is tailored to you. Andrea may incorporate additional techniques such as cupping, gua sha, herbal or lifestyle suggestions based on your needs. Expect your first appointment to last 2- 3 hours. Return visits last from 60 to 90 minutes.
After your session, you might feel a sense of calm, clarity, reduced pain, improved flexibility or even an energy boost. Less frequently, if you have suffered from chronic symptoms like pain and fatigue for years or decades, you may feel tired after the first few sessions as your body kicks into gear to process the back logged healing that it previously didn’t the resources to complete. Healing is a process, and depending on your condition, we’ll work with you to create a personalized plan for ongoing care.
We’re here to help your body do what it’s designed to do: heal.
